question about odd jobs

hey there, so I won't be getting Island Living for a while, but there has been one thing on my mind about the pack, I was wondering if the new odd job feature is a universal feature that works across all previously released packs, will odd jobs pop up for skills/activities found in other packs? Also, for anyone that has played around with the new feature, how is it game play-wise, do your sims just dissapear for a moment or do they actually need to get something done in order to complete the odd job?

I believe it was patched in

Nope, not it's not in my game, I'm pretty sure it's a new feature with Island Living.

It comes with Island Living, so it won't show up if you don't have it. The part time jobs for adults change was patched in, though.

The jobs seem to come in two varieties - I haven't tried them both yet but I think if they say "ASAP" for the time frame, they're a rabbit hole; if they give a time by which to finish (ie, 10pm) then it's a task you do.

that's interesting, any word on pack compatibility?
  • My sim living in Oasis Springs tried out the odd jobs. It's fun but very island related. She had to cook one dish in the volcano BBQ. It didn't work when she just visited a beach there, she had to actually get the volcano BBQ on her own lot so she could add it to her inventory and mail in later. For some jobs you need a skill level high enough to succeed, and you can have a fail. You can do one job per day.
  • I took one of the time limited tasks. My sim had to catch frogs at the waterfall, but when he was done, the task just disappeared, no need to report to the quest giver, no notification. Is that normal? I think I got payed automatically, but didn't really pay attention (it was a rich sim).
