I have only one save with ageing off. I too would start too may saves and quit when my interest wandered or I wasn't in the mood for that type of character or game play anymore. Most of the time I have some idea of how I want a story save to go. Those saves I usually keep and play when I want to forward the story (normally through a family). Other times I start a save either because we've gotten a new expansion and I want to do a test save before using the content in one of my story saves, or I just want to play a particular way or type of sim that doesn't fit with my story saves. There were a lot of these saves cluttering things at the start panel, and more that were deleted. So now instead, I have one ageless save where are all the characters go so I can play with them when I'm in the mood. So far in this save there is archeologist, a group of friends struggling in the city, a mad scientist, a nature loving collecting loner, a cat loving loner gardener and a artistic childish alien. Yet to be added mood driven characters are the mean, angry evil criminal (not my normal game play, only when I'm really in a bad mood), my romantic woohoo the neighborhood sim, the good and regretful vampire, the evil vampire, and a struggling star (as well as others not thought of yet). That would otherwise be nine saves cluttering things up. Instead, I get to visit each sim when I'm in the mood for their kind of game play, I get to see all of them around town while playing and they stay the same (unless I change them). I still start a save with each new expansion for testing (later deleted), have building saves, and start saves for challenges, but using my ageless save has saved me a lot of space and the constant hassle of fixing a town the way I want it over and over again.
