Question on clone

My Sim is a scientist and cloned herself at work. When she left work, the clone just joined her. I did not expect that to be honest, and I'm a bit confused now. Does the clone stay forever ? Or does it disappear at some point ? Are there (dis)advantages to having a clone walking around the house ?

The clone will become part of your sims household, and she is a sim like any other. Its your choice if you want the clone to stay. You could just move her out, to have her own household, that's what I did with the two clones my scientist had (two, because the first one "failed" and became the "evil" twin).
  • The clone stays there permanently unless you move them out. My Scientist had his clone stay at home and do housework. The usual punishment for slacking off was being frozen with the SimRay.
  • I was afraid to test to clone the Sims for my previous Scientist. So, I never try the cloning option yet. But soon, I'll have a teen Sim (vampire by birth), who is going to be a YA. And her randomised career is the Scientist. So, it will be interesting to see her cloning herself, and see if the clone is a vampire too, so the real Sims can fake her death and let the clone Sims died on behalf of her. Either way, I will cure the vampirism for the clone..
  • It's good for story telling if you want to go there.
I'm playing a low level scientist yet again and definitely planning to use the cloning machine in some not so good ways this time around. There was a recent cowplant thread and my clones are going to make me potions for awhile. At least in the first testing phase. I'm already setting it up. Usually though the clones I make become workers for the scientist. Workers is a nice way of putting it.. I have in the past gotten rid of the evil clones .. except the clone of my scientist. Now I'm playing evil sims more so ehh we'll see where the story goes.
The clone mimic interactions are great to me also you need to look at those.
If you want to get rid of them but can't work it any other way you can always just delete the "mistakes" in managed worlds.
  • I can relate @Hermitgirl. I am playing with mischievous/mean Sims recently, and it's kinda fun (urk :# )... so, if I'll get the evil Sims clone, I want to see how the stories go too..I can't let the vampire clone on loose, or can I?
  • I think they always become a member of your household. You could always move them in managed worlds though. I usually use them or delete them though lol.
  • I forgot they had the traits @kalaksed that's great info :). I'm still prepping my game for them this time around.

I had a vampire clone himself and the clone was a vampire also :)

This is cool! B) Thanks for letting me know.. Now, I'm excited! :D
  • I solved it this way because I hate to kill my Sims and I don't want to run into them on community lots, I had my clone have a birthday and she is an elder now, and can take care of the toddler while the original Sim goes to work.
