Questions about family funds

I like to play with generations of families but everytime i move my sim away from their original family my simoleans go back to the beginning (20,000 simoleans)? If so how can I avoid this because my families tend to get a bit large (usually a few kids per sim/sim couple and a dog or two) so I can't keep them altogether?

  • I agree--that stinks. So I just cheat them back up ;) motherlode, familyfunds, etc. Perfect solution for an imperfect SimWorld
  • Another one for the cheats. CRTL SHIFT C, type "testingcheats true" and then "money" followed by a space and the amount of money
  • I just keep the sims I want to play in the original house and rebuild it.. Then I move out the ones I don't want to be the main house. Then they keep all but the 20k simoleons that is leaving for the moving sims.

Or I use the money cheat to divide the funds equally.
  • If you have a sim in the household with maxed out skills in gardening, perfect dragon fruits or UFO fruits sell for a good amount of money. Just store the produce in their inventories and they can sell or plant these after they move out.
If you have a sim who can craft violins, these sell for a good amount as well, and can be stored in personal inventories.
  • When I move a child out, if my family has a lot of disposable cash I buy a bunch of those $15,000 violins and put them in the sim's inventory. Move them somewhere, sell them all (I think you get around $12,000 return) then buy them a better house. I like to think of it as giving them their inheritance :D
  • The only time so far where I deliberately transferred the family inheritance to another family member living somewhere else was when there were only two of them in the family left alive, an uncle and a nephew, and I preceded to kill off the inheritor (the nephew) so I can have the uncle take all the family money to the *successful* branch. >:)
  • I think I saw a mod which was getting the number higher, I think about 50000, but I'm not sure. The cheats are the only way. I always play it as they inherited money, so I just use motherlode :D
