It would be annoying as hell if the romantic films forced them to do romantic acting scenes with the same gender sims and they couldn't complete the work day because there's no option to change it.
There's a little timer button on the to-do list, so if there's some scene you don't want your Sim to do, you can end the work day early. You probably won't get paid as much, but that's all.
