Questions about playing Vampires (but with no Vampires)

I've decided to purchase the Vampire pack and play it with a mod that disables the vampires (Tanja1986's Neighborhood Protection mod on MTS). I'm thinking about having my royal family live here, with a farm on another lot and horse stables on another, and possibly a lot that is a garden, with all of the other lots being a part of the royal family's estate. I have some questions.

Will vegetables and other plants grow here? I know there's less sunshine, so I wasn't sure.

What are some things you like or dislike about Forgotten Hollow?

What are some things you like or dislike about this pack that don't have to do with the vampires?

If you play with no vampires, do you use the mod I mentioned above or a different mod?

Anything else I should know about this pack?

Thanks, you guys. :)

Vampires is my favourite pack, but then I love vampires. I don't personally want to turn occults off, but I understand that some simmers would appreciate the option to as not everyone wants supernatural/occult stuff in their game. I do sometimes like to play 'realistic' stories too, but find if I just ignore Vlad the first time he calls then it's like the vampires aren't even there. Anyway, to answer some of your questions, as far as I'm aware you can grow vegetables and plants in Forgotten Hollow despite the poor sunlight. One of my households previously lived there in an old cottage with a lovely little garden and greenhouse. I find Forgotten Hollow eerily beautiful and I love hearing the wolves howling in the distance. The only thing is it is quite dark and gloomy as you are aware, and Vlad's manor has graves around it which means it only suits certain lots. I also wish it was a bit bigger, but it is a fair size for a game pack. The vampires are of course the biggest draw of the pack and are really well done, but I also really love the CAS and build objects and use them a lot since I love the Victorian style. I have a lot of fun with it and I hope you do too. :)
  • 1. Plants should grow fine, I had a plasma tree orchard with an apple tree one next to it and they both grew around the same speed. The less sun is just a little treat for the poor vampires that burst into flames.

    2. I love how forgotten hallow has this grim atmosphere, a nice breath of fresh air compared to happy towns with alot of sunshine, shame its rather tiny. Also the lake is completely off limits, LAME.

    3. I love the organ, wallpapers, flowercrown hair, spiderwebs, and vines. Especially those last two, perfect for a rather overgrown garden or attic. The only item I "hate" or rather find weird is the see through shirt for chicks, but only because vampire and weird townies flock to it

Overall the game pack is really atmospheric with its items and lets you add a bit gothness to an otherwise sunshine and rainbows world

I was unsure about vampires, but it turns out I love playing them. I actually bought the pack primarily for the amazing CAS styles and custom content that uses those lovely meshes. I think the pipe organ is really cool.

I honestly never get visits from vampires. I’ve had it since it came out on console and play regular and literally, I have not once had a vampire visit. I built vampire families for each lot in forgotten hollow, and have a couple of other vampire families scattered across the rest of the maps, still nothing. I had 1 sim max out vampire lore skill, and talk about vampires all the time (as apparently this increases the chance of a visit). I even moved this sim into forgotten hollow expecting him to be lunch, and have played him through to old age and still, no vampire visit. Even in forgotten hollow! Like I don’t know if it’s mad fluke or what?

And then I just realised, everyone always mentions Vlad visiting them. I replaced him with another Vampire hierarchy (of 7 btw, bringing the grand total of vampires in my game to 22), along with the other 2 pre made vampires. Maybe only they are programmed to visit??! Has anyone else had this issue? I would love them to add a vampire frequency setting, as I feel it’s set to zero in my game :(

I have the exact same problem, no vampire wants to sneak into my house and bite my sims which should be the exact opposite of a problem. I always hear about people getting break in after break in, but the only time I ever had it happen was once after trying for ages when I first got the pack.

    My strategy "Vampire bait" consisted of;
-The only sims in the house are human
-The lot trait that makes vampires attracted to it
-All sims going to bed when night starts (This is a guess cause I only had one sim when the break in happened and they were asleep)
-Letting the vampires ring the door bell
    -All doors unlocked

Keep in mind this is basically just setting your sim up as a prime victim. It's essentially restraining yourself with your neck bare ontop of a silver platter with a giant sign pointing at you saying "Free plasma". Break ins are just absurdly rare and any vampire can do it, Vlad just attempts to do it the first night (after the lovely neck message he sends you) but he tends to just ring the door bell and leave. A shame a cool mechanic like this is so finicky.
  • It’s annoying you have to proper set them up as bait though.. like I shouldn’t have to set my normal sims lot to a vampire nexus to attract a bite in the night lol like I installed Vampires for a reason, to have vampires in my game. I remember when it first came out on pc I had it then and had plenty of vampire visits, as expected from such a pack, but obviously they tuned it down after people complained that the vampires were too intrusive. Which means they will never address this either as they already “addressed” the pack for the occult
    phobes :(

It’s still fun playing as vampires, I just wish they were more prevelant in the world for when you are playing as normal sims. A frequency button or an opt in button for each town (so you could have a vampire town, or keep them totally out), would be cool. This is probably the only aspect of the pack I find disappointing. But that’s not a problem for some..? That and the fact they hint so hard at werewolves, and yet they’ve never made an appearance. Lemme guess coz vampires caused complaints ??? occult’s do seem to be making a comeback at last though so fingers crossed :)
  • Am another Victorian fan, so got the pack primarily for the b/b and some of the CAS. The vamps themselves I can jolly well live without.

  • I tend to the opposite problem, sims being potential victims simply because of their existance. To improve the safety probability I follow the advice given on forums ages ago: no communication with known vampires, no speking of vampire subjects or research in any form, keep all doors locked at night, plant garlic by walkways. It takes some vampire knowledge levells to make the wreaths & garlands, but I believe they are in b/b via the cheat for hidden stuff. Have found that Vlad really likes the water slide so that is part of the defense system now. As a last resort, there is the instant become vampire cheat when attack is coming, to be reversed once threat over.
