Questions regarding sims genetics

In my experience, it's determined at conception. Unless you delete the father during the pregnancy, yes I had weird experiments :D

I had another experience, my male Sims impregnate his wife and when she was still pregnant my Sims become a vampire and the baby is born vampire for some reason.

My male Sims have yet been bitten during the woohoo

wait so the wife got turned a vampire while pregnant and bite her husband turning him as well, and the kid was born a vampire meaning it got affected by what happened during the wife's pregnancy?

No, what I meant is that

The husband was human when the woohoo happened, and the wife was also a human,

The next day the wife is pregnant, also at the same day the husband got bitten by a vampire(after the wife already got pregnant).

the next 36 hours the husband become a vampire, while the wife is still pregnant with the baby(she is human)

The baby is born, with a vampire life state.

I think that for some reasons the game decided to take the genetic of the parents during the time the baby is born, i havent got time to test what happened if I changed the skin color and hair of the parents during pregnancy, will the baby take the parents genetic just before the changes or after the changes.

Lol this is how I gave my lesbian sims a biological (well biological to one of them) baby before I had MCCC cheats. Had one of them woohoo with a random guy I named Spe rm Donor and then deleted him since I didn’t want him on the family tree or for the relationship to show up in my sims romances. Honestly didn’t really pay attention to how it affected genetics, my sims 2 daughters really did look mostly like her

From what @izecson said it seems like genetics are determined not at conception, but at birth. Otherwise the baby would've been human when born and not a vampire.

@izecson ohh okay, thanks for explaining. so the kid got affected by what happened after being conceived even if the mom wasn't involved.
could this mean if you go into cas, and radically change the appearance of the husband, the kid would also get affected? or is it just affected by the gameplay?

now that i remember, we can influence the baby's gender by making your sims eat strawberries and listen to pop for a girl, or eat carrots and listen to alternative for a guy (or something like that) which means even more that the baby genetics keeps changing on the course of gameplay

That's actually what I did too (my mother was not a lesbian though, just a single woman who wanted a donor). But I wanted the father to stay in the world, just not be related. So I decided to delete him and place a copy afterwards.
But I wanted to see how my baby will look like, I'm a bit of a control freak in that sense and also I just wanted to test it for fun. And iirc I made her give birth two times with the same pregnancy, expecting different results, but children looked exactly the same. When I deleted a father during a pregnancy, a child turned out being almost a copy of her mother.
Maybe I'll test it again, I'm curious.
