I've noticed most recently that I've had a few female Sims who scrub at their hair as if they were in the shower washing it. Problem is, they aren't in the shower and are fully clothed when it happens...

Ah, ok, I had never seen it happen until I installed Organic hair. I also have SOL and never suspected that one.
