Re: Do you have a specific ritual that you enjoy before or during a Sims session?

@Bluegayle I love the slippers. They match my favourite Simming in comfort onesie which is cow print with a cow head and ears. 🐮

@DaniRose2143LOL thanks Dani My mom boughtit for me  years ago. She was always gifting me something with a horse theme. She even made me a sweatshirt with my farm logo and a horse on it. And a blanket for my bed. When she found out i was a pegasus fan whe bought me two unicorn porcelain ornaments. ( I think she thought they were the same thing and I never told her different) I miss her .

It is very lovely memories that you have of your Mother @Bluegayle ❤️ It is special that she bought and made you special horse themed items. Our mothers are so precious to us and I was crying when I read your post as I miss my mother too.

My game session rituals are simple but crucial: I won't play without my PJs and a tea, no matter the time of day or night (some things are sacred).

...There may also be chocolate at the start of most sessions. For reasons. Very real and scientific reasons.

@Moozilla13  There’s something about a comfy set of PJs and the Sims that just go together perfectly. A nice cup of tea goes well with everything🥰

@Bluegayle What a lovely story, I miss my mother too.
My mother was a gamer and she actually had a similar ritual to mine. My late dad built us a gaming/PC room in the attic and we had all the consoles and the PC in there with a TV. She'd head up there each afternoon to start gaming. I got our first Xbox for her 60th birthday. She loved it but at first I wasn't keen on it.
Their old house is right next door to me and my childhood bff moved in there with her family and their Xboxes too, so the tradition continues!🎮

It is lovely that your Mother was a gamer also @simsplayer818 I send hugs to you as you miss your Mother ❤️ It is great that you had a  gaming room in the attic where you had your consoles and PC and that your Mother enjoyed going up there to do her gaming each afternoon. It would have been a fun time for her.

It was a special gift that you gave your Mother for her 60th birthday. It is lovely that you live next door to their old house. When you look at it, it would bring back lots of happy memories of things that you did there as a family 🙂

@simsplayer818 That's such a wonderful memory to have of a loved one, and a special connection that you can take with you as you game now and in the future. And I love that it's picked up with the next generation thanks to your BFF. Really a heartwarming anecdote, thanks for sharing 🙂

I usually have a cup of coffee and some kind of treat on hand when I start playing. But the first thing I always do is check @luthienrising mod and cc updates thread and make sure all my mods are up-to-date. It's become a ritual for me. <3

  • @ImSands I think it's fascinating how many similarities there are among so many simmers and the things we love to have with us while we play and build. Coffee, tea, and PJs seem to be the biggest must haves.

  • @ImSands That's something I forgot to add to my ritual. My pre game warm up involves a trip to AHQ to see what's up (not mods as I'm on console but kudos goes to Luth) but also to see if anything needs testing or checking out.
Today I'll be checking out if rock spawning is working properly. While streaming the soccer game (come on guys ⚽) in the background.

I may be the only one without a drink nearby. I'm usually sitting on my recliner with my laptop in my lap and I'm always afraid of spilling something on my laptop.

@simgirl1010 That's your ritual, not ruining your laptop.😁 I've interrupted a dozen simming sessions and ruined three keyboards spilling coffee and tea on my keyboard over the years.🤣

I also get concerned that I will spill a drink on my laptop if I have a drink nearby! @simgirl1010 🙂

I am sorry that you have ruined 3 keyboards over the time from spilt drink! @DaniRose2143

Rituals? I’m a man of rituals.

Clad in Wolf fur Cloak ( don’t worry, wearing your ancestors is considered an honorable thing to do in my sky-and seafaring clan) I’d first draw a magic circle around my Captain’s Davenport in order to keep the Evil Sneazles out. I’d want to entertain myself in peace of course. Not in pieces.

Directly to my left stands a large pillar candle. Directly to my right stands an even larger, cast-iron goblet which contains The Water of Life, plus a small, bowl filled to the brim with plumbob shaped kibbles. I’d light the candle, have two sips of the good water, pop 3 kibbles in me mouth, stamp me feet 7 times to shush hush the terribly loud party plankton that tend to swarm around me ship. I then wind my pocket watch ONCE at the Greenest Hour, because that of course, is the time I’d begin. I‘d take another swig of the good stuff, crack my knuckles (or paws depending on which mood I’m in),  pinch my nose to make sure I’m not dreaming, inhale, roar and power up The Life Device.

And this dear folks, THIS is when it all starts to get interesting…

You are so very creative in describing your ritual before  starting playing The Sims! @CAPTAIN_NXR7 🙂 I can just imagine all what you wrote!

It is great the way you prepare for doing simming @ZazzyKittyn 🙂 Your cat must like your laptop! He would keep you company whilst you are simming. Having a phone nearby is good so that you can quickly respond if someone wants to contact you.
