Wait a second, we're supposed to be grateful for a company providing a luxury item and making a lot of money doing so? Really? Whatever happened to the days of companies being grateful to their customers for paying for their products.
I like video games. I love them. They're my main hobby. I'm glad I have a reasonably large selection of games to play. If I like a game, I'll buy DLC for it as well unless it seems to be a complete ripoff (stuff packs for DAI, I'm looking at you). I like Sims, and I'm glad they're continuing the game rather than stopping content, but that's not a matter of being grateful. That's a matter of they're putting out a product that I enjoy so I'm willing to spend money on it.
I have my doubts Sims 5 will be a thing unless it's on a mobile platform. Sims 4 coming to consoles will probably extend its life. I'm hoping that the sales are large enough that Maxis is given more people to pump out more content more quickly. But I won't be grateful if that happens; I'll just be happy.
Edit: Criticism is as important as good feedback. I think Maxis has done a very good job addressing a lot of the criticism about the game. I'm hoping if there is a Sims 5 for PC, it will have sims with memories and deeper personalities. But if that's not in the works /shrug. However, how on earth are they supposed to know what people want in a sims game if the only thing they hear is positive feedback?
I'm gonna take a crack at this one. I may be wrong, but I think what the poster was referring to is, to put it in a loosely thrown together analogy:
There are two stadiums located near each other. In one, people meet and play football. In the other, people meet and play baseball. The baseball stadium was built after the football stadium. Prior to its existence, everyone just went to the football stadium.
The football fanatics go to the football stadium.
The baseball fanatics go to the baseball stadium.
Some of the football fanatics, when they heard the new baseball stadium announced, thought that it was going to be a new football stadium, but better. They followed along with the building process of the baseball stadium and in the announcements, it really seemed like it was going to be a next level football stadium.
When it was released, it turned out to be a baseball stadium. A bunch of baseball fanatics flocked there and hang out.
Some of the football fanatics were so emotionally invested at this point, they tried it anyway, but kept getting annoyed about the fact that hitting home runs and running bases is not football. Nor are these weird things called "outs" or "innings." "What kind of football is that?!?" Most of these football fanatics drifted away, returning to the football stadium. Some of them quit sports entirely.
A few keep trying to give baseball a chance, but can't get over the fact that it's not football. They were so dead set on next level football that the old football isn't enough to satisfy them. They kinda like baseball, but the fact that it's not football is an ongoing point of friction for them and they are dead set on morphing the baseball stadium into a next level football stadium if it kills them.
Sometimes some of the baseball fanatics get irritated with these particular, persistent football fanatics because 1) They think baseball is amazing and don't understand why these guys are trying to turn it into football. And 2) They're wondering why the football fanatics are even here. "It's baseball! Why would they be here for football??"
Obviously it's more complicated than that in reality. More nuances of preference and peoples' history. But maybe that gets the basic point across. Hopefully in a non-incendiary manner.
