Thanks for testing stuff. Good to know it's not quite as bad as initially it sounded. I really do want the pack, so I'm definitely interested in ways to deal with this feature. And don't worry, I at least will never ask for it to be nerfed. I want other players to have fun with it if they are. It's just not my taste.
Unfortunately though, I have around 200 vampires spread out over several saves. Even if each save only has maybe 15 werewolves (premades and some random ones) that's still a lot more relationships than I feel like dealing with one by one just to make them not all hate each other.
I've been giving it some thought this evening, and I think that with mods I already have like LittleMsSam's "gender and more lot trait" which allows you to ban specific types of sims from specific lots, I can at least keep werewolves and vampires separated from each other while I figure something else out. UI cheats can also save time by just setting relationships as neutral when first meeting. But that can only be used for a controlled sim and another sim. Not on two uncontrolled npcs. The relationships and behavior of the vampires and werewolves I am not controlling has been my biggest concern with regards to this feature.
But... one idea that strikes me as potentially useful and which could even be used in a story related way, is to make a bunch of mixed vampire and werewolf clubs (with the GT club system) and set the club rules as "do be friendly" and "don't be mean" to members in their club (and also toward other similar vampire-werewolf clubs). This would help npc vampires and werewolves learn to get along with each other (potentially a bit faster than just letting them interact normally with random interactions) without me having to go around and babysit them all individually through the process.
Since it sounds like the relationship behaves like a normal sim relationship, just starting from a lower point, this should eventually fix the problem for me. Or at least would force somewhat civil behavior on public lots until they actually get along.
EDIT - If I remember right, dancing together also raises friendship levels rather quickly. So some of the clubs could be dancing clubs. Just for variety.
