The Attire
The Temperament of My Merfolk
This is actually much more complex than one might think, but the simplest way to explain it is that a Pod’s Temperament towards humans and other beings of the magic realm largely depends on the Patriarch of a Pod and how their authority shapes the pod’s behaviors.
Some Examples in the Spoiler:
What happens when younger members of a Pod disagree with their Patriarch
Anyways, that’s a bit of the lore I’m creating. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what you do in the future and the cameos of my merfolk when they appear.
It might take me a bit longer to update my gallery, so I appreciate your patience.
Edited in a detail about Damian when I remembered the words I wanted to use.
The Attire
Spoiler
If you aren’t against micro Management, I can create a version of them as teens with both their Sulani/ Mermadic Attire and a human disguise. Their first outfit, the outfit they are most likely to use, will be their Sulani/ Mermadic Attire, so outside of Sulani, you will probably need to change their outfit.
The tails I’m using aren’t from the expanded mermaid mod, it’s from the Atlantica Set that is also from Spinning Plumbob. However, I’m 110% okay with you using the tails they had from my discontinued stories.

.For the Zalrian Pod, Kemps is the Patriarch and his rules are kinda like the laws the Zalrian Pod follow. Kemps doesn’t like humans and one of his strictest rules is that the Zalrian Pod does not interact with humans or avoids them as much as possible.
The younger members of the Zalrian Pod need his permission before they go on land and interact with humans. Kemps will tolerate humans and does not believe in hurting them. I think Kemps believes that avoiding humans and staying in the sea is the best way to keep the pod safe.
The pod will gather in the shallows near Ohan’Ali Town, but that might be the closest they will get to humans. If they do get particularly close to humans, the adults tend to form a protective circle around the merlings. If a merboy or mergirl in the pod has Kemps’s Permission to go on land, they would be allowed to get closer to humans as long as they don’t stray too far from most of the pod.
It’s important to remember; both Alex and Arihi were once humans themselves. If a human chooses to join the pod and become a mer or is reborn as a mer, he will accept them with open arms. Kemps also accepted Ember’s presence around the pod after she saved him, his brothers, and Arihi from Alex’s evil doppelgänger.
He’s very cautious when it comes to humans, but extremely friendly towards other merfolk.
It’s also important to remember that Calum likes learning about humans and wants to explore the human world. However, even Calum is expected to follow his older brother’s rules and obey his authority. Furthermore, Calum is expected to go to his older brother before going on land. It doesn’t mean that Calum will Always go to his brother before going on land, but he will most definitely go to him first more often than not.
I would say that the Zalrian Pod is cautious around humans, but they are generally very friendly to humans that earn the pod’s trust. Winning over the pod means that a human needs to convince Kemps that they aren’t a danger to the pod. That can often require doing something to help the pod. For Kemps, actions speak louder than words.
I would say that the twins will most definitely obey Kemps’s Rules for the most part. Even as Teens, I don’t see my twins being particularly interested in braking Kemps’s Rules about going on land and might not be in a hurry to leave the sea. Alex is unique in that humans interest him and he fell in love with a human girl. The twins like hearing about the human world, but they are definitely content in the sea.
Alternatively, some pods could be a huge danger to humans if they have a Patriarch that is violent towards humans.
Damian took Caleb’s last name, so the Vatore Pod in my save will be much more friendly towards humans with Caleb as the Patriarch instead of Damian. If Damian became the Patriarch, Caleb would take the last name Morbius and a pod led by Damian would be a danger for humans. Fortunately, my sims autonomously chose peaceful coexistence with humans.
With Caleb being the Patriarch and the one that traditionally and culturally decides on the Rules the Pod will follow, I expect Damian to be nicer to humans and take a softer approach towards his deals with them. He probably won’t be trying to take their souls at least.
I can’t stress this enough. Disobeying a Pod’s Patriarch is a major Taboo. Their culture and traditions are very important to my merfolk, and a significant part of how my immortal merfolk keep order.
Alex did need to go to Damian because everything he did with Ember was in direct violation of Kemps’s Rules. And, he wasn’t just braking Kemps’s Rules, he was violating a merfolk tradition that goes all the way back to when the very first merfolk were born and formed a pod.
The Keahloha Pod will be the pod that gets more involved with humans. It should be noted that my Makoa is a widower. By choosing to be more friendly with humans, Makoa’s Pod ended up smaller after losing older pod members to unfortunate encounters with humans and human pollution. For Makoa, I imagine that he carries the same friendliness towards humans his parents had, but he might be a good example of how Kemps became more distrusting of humans and cautious when it comes to interacting with humans.
Kemps is the Patriarch of the Largest Pod of Merfolk in Sulani, so his leadership and authority has kept his family safe and allowed his brothers to start their own families.
Outside of my various pods, there might be some lone merfolk like Stevie and Kari. What they are like depends on them. However, those are much more unique circumstances and rather rare. My merfolk definitely prefer their Pod Structure

What happens when younger members of a Pod disagree with their Patriarch
Spoiler
If my merfolk decide that they don’t want to obey the authority of their patriarch, there are a few things they can do that are not necessarily a taboo.
1. They can leave the pod if they are a Merman and become the Patriarch of their own pod
2. They can join their life partners pod
3. They can brake off and be a lone merman or mermaid without a pod, often referred to as orphan merfolk. They are the merfolk without a family.
If they continue to live under a patriarch, but they also want to break their rules. They might go to a Dark Sea Witch that will grant them the freedom they seek for a price.
Again, it’s a taboo in my merfolk culture to actively brake the rules a Patriarch set for their pod. Generally, a Patriarch has a reason for their rules and a Good Patriarch isn’t unreasonable when it comes to listening to the members of the pod they are responsible for.
I imagine that Alex choosing to go to Damian is the absolute last thing Kemps wanted him to do, and in a way, Alex never gave his Patriarch a chance to make an exception for him. Something Kemps would do for Alex if he took more time to talk to him before going to Damian.
But hey, Alex gets all the freedom he wants to explore the human world without putting his pod in danger. He just can’t talk to anyone now.
