Read to child not showing?

I have had the interaction before and now I can't seem to make it show. Do I have to have a particular mood or something. I am sure I selected open on a bookshelf and when i select a book it was there,,,but no longer :( My kid will grow up dumb :(

Read to child goals annoy me. I've noticed I need to literally delete any interactions either the parent are the child are doing. Then get the parent to read to them (which they usually will only do for about 20 minutes but sometimes it is longer). I sometimes also find they can get stuck when reading to child for a while, especially if the kid goes off whilst the adult is reading to them. The adult continues to read. Bella Goth got stuck doing this, I move the chair she was on and fixed it that way. Sorry I'm going off the subject and ranting a bit! :)

I got that bug too, because there wasn't enough place for the mother and her child to sit together on the ground :S
  • I had the same problem with the "read to child" option not showing up. I think it might be because the books in the house were all there before the child was born. Had her mother buy a new children's book and the option came up with that book. It still doesn't work with the books that are older than the child, though.
  • Don't you have to have a higher relationship with the kids and vice versa? Because it doesn't always show up even if a child's book.
  • Yea I couldn't get my sim to read to their child either and I had a children's book in the bookcase.

The adult needs to buy a children's book. Then what I did was sit to read the book so it's in my hand, then clicked the book and the prompt pops up to "read book with". It's the only way I could figure it out.

Exactly. The book needs to be a children's book, it needs to be visible in the world (e.g. on a table, on the floor, in the process of being read, etc.), an adult sim needs to click the visible book, and if a child is nearby it will give the option.

Well...better late than never, I guess.
