I would vote if a mixture of both were an option. The Sims has always appealed to me by having Sims which represent realism and all kinds of fun, exotic things that simply do not exist in the real world(which would be the fantasy aspect). I loved the occult’s, even if they weren’t “fleshed out” by today’s standards they were a fun little addition that emphasized the game NOT being a representation of real life. I think The Sims 4 tries WAY too hard to be close to real life, and that’s why there’s so much resistance to it at times. It sure seems to me that at times they draw comparisons to the real world instead of acknowledging this is a game meant to distract from the real world not relive the real world in game.
