Realistic or Cartoony?

I'm sure there's been a ton of similar threads before but I'm interested to see the figures on how people feel! Which graphics style do you prefer and hope to see in future games?

(Realistic doesn't necessarily mean ultra realism and uncanny valley, it could just mean more realistic and detailed than what we have in 4. Cartoon goes for anything non-realism, doesn't necessarily have to look like a kids tv show it could just be more doll-like characters like we have in 4)

    I have to agree with SailorCeti's statement. I do like some realism, but I love the "cartoony" aspect instead of the gritty realism in many other games.

    I've been playing 3 recently, went back onto 4 yesterday and yikes this game is so cartoony in comparison. Everything is so smoothed and rounded in 4

    I really like how it is now, however I wouldn't mind a tad more details. But yeah im gping with cartoony.

    I really like Pixel Graphics. 4D Realism is just weird in games.

    Even with your comparison pictures I still prefer the Sims 4 style, minus the eyelashes.

    I've also been playing the Sims 3 lately and I do think that the graphics in it are lovely when they are on max settings it's just that for me it isn't my preferred art style.

    @Onverser Did you see the Tweet were SimGuruFrost mistook pictures of Isla Paradiso from the Sims 3 for Sulani and he commented on how beautiful Sulani is?

    It was hilarious :lol: , ofc he deleted the tweet immediately cause he didn't want to praise any other game than the Sims 4 publicly...

    Again, a matter of taste. To me, going back to Sims 3 just reinforces how much better Sims 4 looks than Sims 3.

    More realistic for me. The sims in Sims 4 are adorable but I hate the clay hair with a passion, it looks like playdoh. And the lashes are not even lashes at all. I don't mind a cartoony-ish style but more on the realistic side of things.

    That's a totally valid take as well, because Sims 4 is so smoothed and polished it's gonna look cleaner and more high quality, but then because it's so smoothed and polished you lose out on the realistic details and textures. For me personally I prefer to have these realistic details > the high quality rendered look, but you may prefer to have the high quality rendered look over the realistic details. It's entirely down to preference really.
