No, not necessarily. Progress isn't always linear, whether in tech or any other aspect of life. It's possible that we may still get things from previous games in the future, but just because they've been done before doesn't mean they will be possible in this game. It's a completely different engine with different constraints.
(Sorry if this question has been asked and answered already. I'm responding to posts as I read them.)
Then I suppose that the pressing question would be: Why choose/implement an engine that isn't capable of providing the same flexibility and freedom that the players were already used to in previous games?
Common sense would dictate that players would balk against more constraint. I'm pretty sure that no one told EA, "I really hate all those options that I had, please make all my game play decisions for me."
I'm not meaning to be facetious or snarky, either. It's a serious question and concern.
