Different time zones

I'm trying to research the many worlds to get an idea which ones are more northern and which ones are more southern etc. Climate and general feel give some idea, but I wanted to dive into more details o make sure my map is pretty accurate.

So, I decided to check what time in the morning each world gets its daylight. And because daylight come gradually, I chose to check what time the street lamps are turned off.

To my surprise, all 10 worlds I checked this far - spanning from Windenburg to San Sequoia - turns off the street lamps at the very same minute - 4:40 AM. In some worlds there is some afterglow for about one our. I was expecting some differency. Testing took place on 5th day of Fall, maybe I should raher test this mid Winter? I first thought that worlds whith the one hour afterglow could have a darker morning, maybe being located slightly farther north, but now I'm not so sure as the lamps were probably not the same.

Question now is wehether all those outdoors lamps are programmed to switch off at 4:40 AM, regardless of daylight? In some worlds it felt a bit lighter, but because it is gradient it is hard to pin an exact time for it. Maybe they are turned off a bit later in Winter.

Any suggestions t other ways to compare daylight? I'll try again in Winter, but could do other research as well.

  • I think this would be awesome, but worlds like San Myshuno are based off of Tokyo and New York City, which have quite different time zones , and consistency across the game will be broken.

I don't know if daylight changes in different seasons where it's darker for longer in winter and lighter in summer, if this isn't already in the game then could they add it (Btw im a builder and I dont use gameplay that often)

I do believe that time in game does need to be altered in ways that improve realism, if there was a new option were we can choose slower options, not to slow down the gameplay but just so time passes slower as I believe it goes too fast.

I never think of real life locations when playing my game, so instead o thinking of Tokyo and New York, I just think San Myshuno ;) It would still be nice knowing whether San Myshuno is north or south of Magnolia Prominade.

Talking about time, I always wanted a "freeze time" button. It would be in handy when recording scenes for a movie and daylight will change too quickly for recording the same scene multiple times. Everyone trying to film/edit somehing knows how annoying moving shadows can be, LOL. Instead I need to reload the game without saving. Such a freeze function could also be used if say you play a wedding or picnic and want more time for your event.

I love the geekiness of this!

How about marking on a real world map the countries that most closely resemble the in-game worlds and using that as a starting point? For example the UK would be Henford. The US-centric worlds would need to be split into state. It would be a great data visualisation approach :)

Thanks, I love to be a geek ;)

I have detailed maps of my ts4 nation. I placed the worlds according to climate zones, grouping them in regions. But occationally I notice that traveling from one world to another reveals the daylight effects are different, and on rare occasions I get the feeling that my map could have benefited from fine tuning. That's why I did some research on the hour street lamps go off, but they seem to be programmed similarly, and not really relating a lot to the zones.

Here's one of my maps. I think only Ravenwod is missing, but it will be squeezed in to region  4.
