Really EA Maxis Get Famous:(EP)(Please Close)

All I really wanted is a desert world with snow and I am pretty sure the get Famous world won't have any snow since its based around Hollywood and snow would ruin the parties. I even did a poll forum and your still going to add another world with no snow or like Oasis Springs but green. I am glad that your influenced by the starlight fame, I would buy Get Famous, but because Seasons was not what I expected it to be Get Famous is the last Expansion pack I will buy. So keep on making more stuff because I think I am skipping this one because its not what I want in my Sims Game.

(Sorry if this question has been asked and answered already. I'm responding to posts as I read them.)

Then I suppose that the pressing question would be: Why choose/implement an engine that isn't capable of providing the same flexibility and freedom that the players were already used to in previous games?

Common sense would dictate that players would balk against more constraint. I'm pretty sure that no one told EA, "I really hate all those options that I had, please make all my game play decisions for me."

I'm not meaning to be facetious or snarky, either. It's a serious question and concern.

Sims 1-3 all had some very similar stuff under the hood. Some places this got really creaky; they had to do some pretty hacky stuff with TS3 in order to make certain things work when object interactions were still the core of the system.

In theory, it's understandable to tear down something you understand well if you think that a new system will work better once you understand its ins and outs. And some elements, I'm okay with them not being able to replicate. Smaller neighborhoods were a deliberate design element of TS4, so I'm okay with larger expansive worlds being off the table. If multitasking and emotions were given the proper depth they deserve, I'd consider that an acceptable tradeoff.

EA is messing this up by being EA. Bringing out a slightly bigger game pack for twice the price when we're not that far out from the time they held back pet items so they could charge us $10 more is exactly the sort of goodwill depleting cash grab that they're known for. But at least when the decision to try something new was made, starting something new instead of having to work around the limits of the old system is understandable.

Why do you specifically want a desert with snow? Why is snow in all other worlds except deserts not working for you? Do you want seasons to be the same in all worlds? I like that they tried to mAke it realistic with the individual worlds.

Oh,.I see. You live in a desert area irl that is high up and gets snow occasionally. It's just a rare situation you're in that most wouldn't like the connection of snow with a desert.

The only reason they didn't add a snow layer to the desert is because they where short on budget and thought they could skip it would be my guess, but if you don't put a snow layer in the desert you kill 2/4 of the deserts. My Desert has Sand it has Rocks it has Dinosaurs. Not all Deserts are the same and locking a climate to warm and hot is not desert at all. Its unrealistic to lock a desert hot in summer and not cold in winter. In high dessert its even more common for snow to fall in Winter. It may fall at night on Friday and by Monday be gone, or it could be there for a month depending on how cold it is. We had snow fall in November and last 2 weeks and than be gone for 3 weeks and snow for a week. and be gone again. You play the game you are used to playing based on where you grow up or live and if poeple tell me that place is not what I pretended it to be than yeah, should I be mad yes. Because before seasons you could say it was whatever type of desert you want and when I downloaded seasons, I was looking forward to seeing snow stick in the dessert winter game and went and it would snow, but it would not stick because the temperature would warm up and the only snow storm Oasis Springs ever gets is "Sunsnow" Even if you click blizzard on the weather machine, now they are telling me what type of dessert it is which is not right. Another thing is mud puddles should stay longer in deserts because they tend to get all their rain at once, so than again that is telling me what type of desert it is. Yeah it does get the snowing effect, but snow don't stick in the dessert. Than they add the new Get Famous EP which is great except its based on another world that don't get snow. Also I don't know what everyone is complaining about because that national park can always be changed to a residentual or community lot in the lovely Hollywood style town, besides Hollywood don't have a national park in real life.
  • If it doesn't snow, no big deal, I delete the houses (and other buildings) and then eventually I get around to designing something for the area.
  • I can do without the stuff, thank you. Living in a part of the country where it's a possibility for about half the year it's nice to have other options, if only on my computer.

Snow is the least of my problems with this pack.

Tell me about it - I live in Maine and it has already had snowed several times now this month in our mountains - and so far in our yard twice. The weather man said we will be seeing snow later tonight in our area. I originated from Florida where it never snows - so obviously I am not a fan of the white stuff - but hubby is a born and bred Mainer. Sigh.....
  • I don't care about del so valley, it hardly ever snows in Los Angeles, but I wish they would add a snow layer to Oasis Springs so I can make it snow with the weather machine. Other than that I don't care about munch.
