Incidentally I didn't clone my tree-stump, I just talked to Jasmine with each of my Sims and they both got one. With each Sim getting one emotion - Alan swooped in on a Sad plant, Breech made him Flirty - then clone each seed. Some emotions are tougher to switch.
These PlantSims require your full attention during talking because they run off really easily mid conversation. It's kind of tough because they just pass by the outside of the Lot and run on by.
