Realm of Magic - So " infatuate " can't break up couples?

I've only tried this spell once on a couple random townies fishing with my spellcaster. She was a noob and cast the spell while standing right next to them. They didn't kiss, only did the shocked animation with thought bubbles of my Sim above their heads. They also don't like her now. lol I'm guessing the spell failed, but she luckily didn't get a curse. She's a Virtuoso now and can cast from afar, but I haven't tried it again yet.
