A rags to riches story would be nice
My Vampires were very fun because they could easily survive harsh weather, but the sun was a different story. It was interesting having them scrounge around for blood/money at night, they were typically klepto's.
I heavily modded mermaids to satisfy ALL of their needs in the water, so I've yet to do a rags to riches for them but I want to.
A starving human who stumbles upon the mortal and learns magic from the sages who pity her could also be nice, and maybe she grows strong and lets the power get to her, maybe she's stripped of her powers but her children are not? And although she's powerless now, she still has the immortality potions effect so she's cursed to watch her children grow from a distance. Could even throw in a story line where she wants to steal one of her descendants powers so she can be powerful again.
