Rebellious trait could have just been a placeholder for the temporary mood swings in Parenthood, such as Picky Eater, Loud Music, Wears Black, Mean Streak. All of those traits show up as temporary traits in the Sims profile, and it makes sense that they would be included under the term "Rebellious."
It would be cool if this was an actual trait, but I doubt it :(
