Relationship Culling Destroys Lore

I haven't had relationships completely disappear (yet) but I have definitely noticed the decay. I have aging off except for the current household so that they will be there when I want to play with them and it aggravated me to discover that even though nothing else changes, their relationships do. I recently went around and cheated all my families' relationships back where I wanted them.
