This is the same issue I had. I turned a vampire into a mermaid but they had a hidden trait that made them sick if they ate food. Poor thing was sick all the time. I dont think the cheat worked because I had changed their state so it didnt register.
I had to turn them back into a vampire, max their vampire lore so they could make the Draught of Reconfiguration with lvl 1 mixology which reset all their traits...then turn them back into a mermaid! After that the traits were all cleared.
Including the hidden cured trait from the Ultimate Vampire Cure?
