Replacing existing townies with gallery ones

Hi everyone! Recently got into playing sims 4 again and apart from my new households, I am into refreshing the worlds and existing households a bit. But I wanna make sure I am doing it right though and I need your help! I wanna refresh/give a makeover to existing townies so that they look better(both them and their houses) but I am not good with CAS so I wanna replace them from gallery sims. The thing is that I am not sure how do it successfully , without creating duplicates, but also making sure that they have the same aspirations, relationships and skills when I end up playing. Any help would be appreciated 🎀 ( I don’t use mods or CC, just some owned dlc and also cheats)

    lunalovesbiquits​  I assume by the term townies you are talking about the premade sims that live on lots versus the many NPCs that fill roles and are homeless (if you are talking about the NPCs, that's a different story and they will need to be handled differently).  If you do not care about the family trees, then you can delete every one of those households and replace them.  Same with the lots.  So, if you want to go this far, you can delete every sim in Manage Household and bulldoze every lot in the game.  The game has the major sims it absolutely needs in hidden sims or will make them as needed as the game goes on.

    Hello and thank you for the reply! So just to clarify, if I take the goths for example into CAS to edit them and then replace them with a gallery goth family, I can delete the original goths and replace them that way?

    Also what do you mean by family trees? I know what they are but at the same time I feel like sims 4 doesn’t really have huge family trees does it? I’ll check it myself as well but I was curious.

    lunalovesbiquits​   Yes, you can replace the Goths and every single premade household with other sims from the Gallery.  Depending on how you go about it, you will break the existing family trees for those that have extended trees.  So, if you don't care about the family trees, then have at it and delete and replace the households.  Otherwise, it can be a trial to do it.  It can be done, but just a lot harder than a direct delete and replace.  Take a look at the Goth family tree, or better yet, if you have Royalty and Legacy (R&L), take a look at the Capp or Thebe family trees to see how extensive some of them are.   For some of the premades prior to R&L, family trees changed and are more complex.  I know the following families are affected:  Goth, Landgraab, Zest, Alto, Broke, Laurent, Vatore, Volkov, and maybe 1or 2 that I forgotten.

    And since you're replacing the premades and if you didn't know, there are teenage versions of some of the base game premades (Goth, Landgraab and Pancakes) on the Gallery that Maxis made.  Family name is Copperdale Class of '00.  That could make some interesting story lines if you want to go that way.
