Residence Keys?

If they have a residence key they can come into your house at any moment even if you aren't home, sim at work,. They can't enter a room that has it's door locked like normal. I would advise against giving our your key as I've had issues of exceptions being generated because of it. Plus it's annoying when they come over when your sims is at work and they are just hanging out.

I think it’s cute to give a residence key to the kids of a house they grew up in, once they become adults and move out. Then they can visit and just let themselves in, because they’re always showing up to visit anyway. They even show up when their parents are on vacation to the rental home, which is unrealistic but I love it because they all end up spending more quality time together.

There's no point to these when you control the sim which has a residence key as you can't use it.

Oh, that's a let down! Would be cool if there actually was a key in their inventory, to be used as actively played. I never used the key feature, but thought it could be cool giving the key to a fiancé etc.
