Restaurants take too long

Sometimes if your restaurant gets and glitch, you just may never get served. You can click on your table and give it up, then chose a different table by clicking on it ask to be seated there, that may work, and save your eating out plans.

Also what I have done is add the Luxury party stuff pack, Banquet table or
Banquetia table, click on that full it with food. Others in the restaurant that's waiting and hungry will also get up and get a plate of food. It's a punch bowl add-on.

You can even take the leftovers home by putting the food in your inventory and adding it to your fridge, and not cook for a few days.

@keekee53 if you go into a slow-food resturant in Real Life at 5 do you not except to be feed until the noon the next day?? That's our problem.

I never have a sims waiting until noon the next day to eat. If my sim's food is taking too long, mostly like the order was cancelled by a sim reset (t-stand) and I usually reorder before that. No way does the game take from 5pm to 12pm the next day for the sims to get served without it being some other problem.

That does sound very excessive. Do you have a lot of tables in the game? I think the game does serve other people who happened to be in the restaurant before you.

I think for the purpose of this game, they should just prepare your food right away. We don't have a whole lot of time in game. Right now, my restaurants range between 3-5 hour waits. That is too much.

I respect your opinion. I think the game could accommodate people in your situation by ordering a drink, waiting a few hours, and then ordering your food later, and maybe dessert after that. I think this would be fair to everyone.

I do too. Also it is much faster now than it was in the beginning. And is perfect for a romantic dinner for my couples as long as I don't order 7 courses for my sims. Usually I get them 3. The salad and a drink. The main course and a cocktail. The dessert and a coffee.

As I said, I don't mind the wait because I use the time to relationship build.

To help others, I think a happy medium would be for played sims to jump the chef line. In Sims 2, when sims ordered their food came out first even if they were last to order. In sims 4, it is more realistic and it follows the first order, first serve. The wait would not be as long if when we ordered our order becomes top priority.

I've said it before and I have timed it. I don't have the wait many say they have. I think my longest was right after release and I'm sure that was a glitch or the food got dropped or something happened I didn't notice.. I didn't time that one but I did leave with my sims getting red.
My sims go in, I direct them to get a table right away (before it fills up), order, get served, eat and sometimes order again then pay and leave. My sims normally have a restaurant experience that hovers around 3-4 hours. If it's multi-course or things happen like food poisoning, dropped food ect it could be longer but that's the game.. and infrequent for me. I personally like when odd things happen though. I plan the sims day around going out.
When I download a new restaurant I make sure it works also.. if the flow is off then I fix it or replace it normally. If my sims themselves start standing around lagging I troubleshoot that problem in my game. It's usually when I add mods or cc or the save is pretty packed with sims population wise.

Thought I'd post these because they have timestamps. The restaurant here actually has some routing issues that I still need to fix...pretty minimal but I did pull out the basketball court as the waiters tended to use it. This is about a 3 hour meal in my celebrity old and new save (sims are mostly made by orangestripedcat I think). Could be some other makers though.. Sorry can't remember. Hidden because it's way too many pictures for people to sort through.

You should go when it's raining, last time the waiter left to play in the rain.

Is this just a Seasons problem? Whenever I send sims to a restaurant they are almost always the first to arrive at the lot so I get seated straight away, then other sims start arriving to get seated. I order straight away too and it usually arrives quite quickly. If I order a second course the order is taken straight away and arrives quickly too. If I send a sim out early eveing there's usually time for several courses, a quick round of chats with other diners then plenty of time for a few hours at the nightclub. However I have chosen not to get Seasons yet so this may be the reason I seem to be problem free here; or maybe I'm just lucky. :smile:

Mine takes about 4 to 5 sim hours? Sure that’s longer than normal but nothing compared to what others on here are saying it’s taking them. For sure 20 sim hours to eat is ridiculous. The only time I had an issue was due to a restaurant I downloaded not being routed properly. Other than that I’ve never had longer than 5 sim hours. I don’t order a ton though. I just order a main course and a dessert usually. I’m sorry it’s taking so long for some, that would drive me crazy.
