If they described the EP as something unexpected and the GP as a major first, we can assume that the EP is something that has been done before.
Another point is the image they used. It has MANY animals/creatures in it as someone already pointed out, it has an archeologist-like sim and some sims protesting. I don't think they would use this without a reason. Could be that all theses things are related to one of the packs, or that some of the things are related to a pack, and some to the other.
I can't really guess at this point because all the themes that come to my mind aren't unexpected, like Farming, Generations, Hobbies, Bands. I just hope and pray it's not superheroes.
