RoM: Show off your sages!

Back when Realm of Magic came out, quite a few players were disappointed by how boring most of the sages looked in the game compared to the trailers. So maybe I'm not the only one who edited or even completely replaced them.

With the Mass Effect Legendary Edition reigniting my love for that franchise, I decided to remake the three sages in the image of the Citadel councillors. So here they are, from left to right:

- The sage of practical magic, formerly known as Simeon Silversweater, is now Sparatus Quint, inspired by the Turian councillor Sparatus and his successor Quentius.
- The sage of mischievous magic, formerly L. Faba, is now Irissa Tevos, inspired by the Asari councillors. Her tentacle hair was made by a modder called Crazy Mammoth.
- Last but not least, I did the unthinkable and changed the immensely popular Morgyn Ember as well, so the sage of untamed magic is now Valern Esheel, inspired by the Salarian councillors.

What have you done with the sages?

  • I haven't replaced them, I've gotten used to the existing sages already and it would be weird to change them. I really like Simeon Silversweater as a sage, actually.
When I play with spellcasters I usually add a lot of other spellcasters in the game and I also like to use the original sages from the RoM trailer, but I've never used them as actual sages.
  • I never replace sages in my game. I tried once to change their looks and it felt weird. When I first got the pack I played for a long time like a person possessed. Usually I had different occult or a human “accidentally” discovering spellcasters and getting along with one of the sages lol. Probably because I played like that for such a long time, original sages became constant part of the picture, I can’t imagine them looking differently. And to be honest, I don’t think they look bad at all.
  • I guess you have to have aging turned off on unplayed sims or use MCCC or something to stop the sages from aging. I kept the original sages until they died and then replaced the sages with the trailer ones from the gallery once, but after that I have just let the game choose them. I don't go to the magic realm that much and I often let my unplayed sims age, so the sages change quite fast even though I play with long lifespan.

All your sages are very inspiring and this thread made me think that I should get creative with the sages once I go back to playing a spellcaster family that often goes to the magic realm :) I downloaded a very cool new magic headquarters from the gallery some time ago, so sages that look more than regular townies would go well with it!
  • Thank you, it hadn't crossed my mind that I could use the potion for sages! @kalaksed  Unfortunately I read that the immortality potion works only on a currently played household and when you switch the household it stops working and the sim that is supposed to be immortal still dies of old age. It seems to be a bug and gurus are looking for save files to fix it

It's a pity it doesn't seem to work, because that would have been a great solution to keep my sages around longer :disappointed: I think I'll still try it and see how it goes, so if it doesn't work I'll at least be able to share my save file.
