There is a variant mod based on WW - wonderfulwhims - that was just the romance / attraction system but not the NSFW stuff, so it's 'teen acceptable'.
If you have that - romance can take either a LOT longer or be near instant as it makes metrics for yous sims to tract what they're attracted to. If your sim likes beards and that guy doesn't have one - he's off the menu. But that neck beard over next to him might drive your sim into extremely flirty at a single glance, causing me to seriously question her tastes... but ok.
I've got a whole thing where I can have sims ask each other what they like, where I get back stuff like "I'm into people that like high fashion" or "I hate video games". All of which goes into the mix to speed up or slow down romance.
It makes the 'romance game' a lot more interesting.
