Roommate beds and gender specific dorms

This is more of a two part question:

1. I saw somewhere I can make a dorm all the same gender. I want to an all male dorm. I would assume to assign this before moving my sim into that dorm so only male sims are spawned?

2. Once roommates are spawned, can I control where they all sleep and assign each one their room?

    2. Yes, from what I can see. you just click on the bed and there's an option to assign a bed to a certain person.

    1. Yes, you can change the settings of any University Housing (aka dorm) as long as no one lives in them (or with the build cheat if there's already a household there) to only have Sims of a specific gender there.

    2. Yes, you're in control of who has which bed assigned. The spawned Sims claim beds, I think, but you can change it at will, whenever during gameplay.
