- I've never had a schedule for my rotations. Once I get bored with a household, I just switch to a different one.
Currently, I have five Sims enrolled in university. One is staying at a Britechester dorm, two others (who are sisters and lived together with their father in San Myshuno) are staying at a Foxbury dorm. Then I have two other separate households who are attending from their apartments, one an aspiring actor who lives with their older sister, and the other a mother on a tight schedule.
Even though I don't have a schedule for myself, I'll at least make sure to finish the term before I leave, if I'm say, halfway through the week already or so. But if I'm not bored with them yet, I'll go ahead and play through another. I won't enter into any other households who would be in the middle of their terms, though, but typically by the time I leave one household, the others would be finished their terms anyway.
So far, I haven't experienced anything negative related to rotational play. I've noticed a lot of people who say they've returned to their household to find that they'd flunked or had been put on probation; that hasn't happened to me. So far, everyone has been passing with A+. - mariefoxprice836 years agoSeasoned VeteranI'll probably just stick with playing a week per rotation as I usually do, but when sims go to university I'll make sure they complete the term with aging off, unless it's a save where a sim is meant to be studying a long course and living at home.
- Simmerville6 years agoSeasoned AceOnly schedule I have is to get through half my 50+ households every calendar year. Some I play 5 sim hours, some I play 3-4 sim days. I play 14 days per season, making up for a total of 56 days every calendar year.
My biggest challenge concerning Uni is to stay on route with the calendar. I need to play all 4 seasons for my run through. So, I plan to run an extra run through for anyone going to Uni. If 4 terms I'll play them for 28 simdays. Then I might run one more student (group) for the next 28 days, or I might play some favorite households. I play with aging off, and turn aging on for the New Year's Eve only. So playing Uni with aging off is no problem. I found it's better to start off playing the full graduation in one go, instead of rotating between terms and risk tech problems. For realism I'll just place those Uni sims in a Uni household before they return back home to their original hood 2-3 years after enrolling.
I don't have this pack yet, but will hopefully get it next week. - janyses6 years agoNew ObserverWhat I do is focus most of my attention on the sim(s) that I want to succeed. I rotate for maybe a few hours to my other enrolled sim, just long enough to complete some coursework. That sim still passed the term with a B+, even though I wasn't playing her at the time. But she flunked the remaining two terms. So either I didn't play her enough, or her low skills were at fault.
My guess is that the higher your sim's skills are, the less likely it is that they will do poorly when you rotate to another family. I'm going to test this theory a little more in my game. - keekee536 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI haven't picked it up yet. My biggest concern is trying to get more than one sim into the dorm from different households. I am hoping there will be a mod that makes the acceptance letters instant by the time I get it. That would make life easier from what I have been hearing.
- susanleona6 years agoNew ScoutI play my sim(s) going to uni for the full term (5-7 days depending when they started but it's really longer as they have to apply and wait for the letter so it can be 10 days). This is a bit longer than my normal rotation but they get top grades. Then I play the other family (I only have two families in rotation per game). Sometimes I have to do a bit of back and forth. Getting used to it. The uni sim doesn't re-enroll until I get back to them. Once I did 2 terms so my sim could learn robotics. I've tried the dorms and university housing and it was fun but most of the time I have my sims commute from home. I have more than one game. So far no one has graduated.
- elliebreton6 years agoSeasoned AceI have 7 households which I normally play for 4 days each so they all get played once per 28 day season.
I just did a term at college with twins from one household - from the time of applications to the end of term it was 10 days.
So I figured that any time I want to play a term at uni I will just reduce my other households to a 3 day play. That way I will still fit them all into one season. - icemanfresh6 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI don't have DU (yet; still waiting for a sale or bundle), but my plan is to just handle it like in TS2: because YA is optional in that game, a college sim would age slower than non-college sims (although in practice I send all teens to college anyway.) To make up for this, when I send sims to college, I make them finish first before continuing my rotation. So from the perspective of the home sims, it's as if the teens just aged from teen to adult (but with a degree and more life experience.)
So in DU, I'll just turn aging off while playing with a college household until they finish the term. So it'll be like TS3 UL too. If I ever have sims go to college while staying with non-college sims, I'll keep aging turned on and just consider them part-time students who have other affairs to attend to at home. - EgonVM6 years agoSeasoned AceI'm thinking of doing this.
I play with university student households a term. After that, I reenroll them to only one class so they can stay at dorms, then switch the household. Once I return there, I quickly reenroll them normally. - DoloresGrey6 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI turn the aging off for everyone. And I don't rotate while my sim is on a university. Once my sim graduates I turn the aging on again and I pick up where I left off with my families. I have a schedule but I also don't want my university student to have bad grades.
