Sad Sims

How long do sims walk around slouching and moping with limited actions after a death in the family? Right now I am dealing with a sad father and two teenage sons because of the death of their wife/mother. I can't get the dad a new love right now because he's too sad for most romantic interactions. So I am basically just watching them all wander around slumping and crying all over the place. While this is extremely realistic its not that much fun for me and this game doesn't seem to have as many little special or magical things you can do do alleviate it as previous games have had, like the moodlet manager or bliss elixirs in Sims 3. If there IS something similar to the moodlet manager or the happiness potions though, I would love to hear about it.

  • It takes about 2 sim days total for them to be happy again. You could always make them call the sadness hotline and cry it out or pep talk in the mirror. Or you can use a cheat. Sadly there is no cheat just to remove sadness.
    sims.remove_all_buffs

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

    No problem.
  • Well they increased the length and sadness buffs sometime back because simmers asked for it. It really isn't very easy to override after a death anymore with just environment. There are reward potions you can buy in game using reward points.. moodlet solver. There's a sadness alleviation lotion that you can make from the Herbalism skill that comes with OR and there is also a potion your scientists can make that might help but not sure as I haven't made if for awhile.. think it's called a need fixer but might give you a good buff too.. don't remember.
Personally I'd just give them a spa day soak and do some yoga or something else that makes them happy or distracted and muffle the sadness buff for awhile. To me that can be considered realistic because although you might have fun and laugh after a death and enjoy things it's still there heavily in the background for awhile.

    Will this work " sims.remove_all_buffs" ?

It removes all buffs but as I had stated earlier sadness hotline, crying it out and pep talk work as well as some good points @Hermitgirl made too.
