Scenarios should be short-term goals in live mode akin to mini-aspirations
Aspirations are, in my opinion, not great, making long-term goals too micro-managed and not stimulating creativity due to a checklist approach on every level that is the same for every single sim. Short-term goals are currently non-existent unless you turn buffs on, but buffs have been left behind. If you like your sim's thoughts and whims to steer your gameplay instead of micromanaging every single detail of your saves, there just isn't much to work with. Short-term and long-term goals add a lot to the game by providing something to work towards, and provide a sense of direction and meaning to a sim's life and a save file. In come scenarios.
There are a number of very creative scenarios available that can provide a lot of fun and challenge in the game. I don't like that they have to be accessed through the main menu, though, and essentially encourage you to stop playing once the scenario has been completed. These would work so much better, in my opinion, if they were moved from the main menu into live mode and potentially CAS. Some of them could be hidden and appear once you've completed a certain set of actions (much like the hidden "Grilled cheese" aspiration), some of them could be suggested similarly to likes and dislikes based on your sim's moods during certain actions/lifestyles/etc.; a new tab "scenarios" could be added alongside the aspirations tab and then you can choose one etc. Being able to choose the scenarios in-game would add much to the game by adding another element of goals and challenge, and the game suggesting certain scenarios based on your sim's life and personality could add a layer of depth. Adding them in CAS could be an option as well, which wouldn't be dissimilar to the current system.
Please share your thoughts. How could this change impact the game and your enjoyment of it?
