Scientist Career Lvl. 7

I'm struggling to get past level 7 in the Scientist career for the NotSoBerry Challenge I'm doing.

Any tips and tricks for this level?

Edit: I know were suppose to complete the daily tasks were suppose to do each time. That's what the struggle is for me.

You don't have to join your Sim at work. Should only take 2 or 3 days to get a promotion if you treat it like a rabbit-hole job. Not as much fun but not as much frustration, either.

Do they still get promoted if you dont join them? (Cause I need to get her lvl 10/10 for the NotSoBerry challenge.

Yep. The Detective and Doctor careers both have promotion requirements that need you to follow your sim to work, but Scientist can be played entirely as a rabbit-hole if you want to. I have a scientist sim who has made it all the way to the top without me ever following him to work and just making sure he gets his breakthroughs at home.

So good to know because I'm horrible as a scientist. Its almost like you get more money to when you dont go to work with them.
  • Yes, you can complete the Scientist career without ever joining your Sim at work. All you need for promotion is two breakthroughs at each level.

I don't recommend skipping the laboratory entirely. Scientists have some great inventions and the lab is the only place to use the Invention Constructor without cheats. It's also a good place to obtain crystals and metals, by asking your coworkers for them and ordering them to do scientific tasks. It's a shame that gardening doesn't really work there any longer but the rest of the career makes up for it, in my opinion.
  • It's kind of a bummer that gardening doesn't work there anymore. I deleted the garden hoping it will prevent those tasks from populating the work list . *Crosses fingers.

So true. I did complete the Elements chart! Yay I thought that was gonna be the hardest for the Gen 1. Not So Berry Challenge. Come to find out it was one of the easiest ones to do. Levels 1-7 I went to work with her and she finished the rocket! Which took forever but worth it! It was when got to level 8, then 9 yay got super hard. Once she Masters the Scientist job I will go back to work with her.

I'm hoping so much to pass Gen. 1 this week for NSB!
    Thanks so much!

Oh it doesnt work their anymore awww what happened? Let me know if that works!
  • The gardening system was redesigned for Seasons but most of the changes applied to the base game as well, so they affect everyone. One of the changes was the timing for harvests. Plants used to produce a harvest whenever they were ready but now they only produce a harvest at 5am. This is mostly beneficial but it makes impossible to get a harvest at the science lab, since the job doesn't start until 10am and there is no other way to get to the lot.

Another change made all the gardening needs (water, weeds, bugs) happen at 6am. This has the same unintended side-effect of making it mostly impossible to do any gardening at the science lab. It's still possible to get the watering task by planting a seed.
