@Sindocat from what @MDianaSims stated it's the culture of the island. So I did what she suggested by adding the lot trait private dwelling. I think I would've been annoyed had sims been coming on my lanai using items, not knowing about the culture aspect!
I've been playing sims for 20 years and I still learn something new everyday. Also I just started playing a family in the Island Living world, although I've had it for quite some time now!
