In my game, on Sulani. It seems that people don't walk in randomly until after the welcome wagon. The other posters are correct it is an Island trait. It happened all the time when I lived in Hawaii. I do find that in other worlds I frequently get children at the door, they won't come in until I greet them, and like everyone else, they will stay at the door and not go away for hours. It seems a little weird to me to invite kids in without their parents unless they are family. In the other worlds I don't have young adults/adults/elders come IN the house unless I greet them either. Unless I gave them a key of course. It doesn't happen as frequently as on the island. Did the private dwelling setting work for you?
