Sending forged break up letters...

This is the first time I have seen this action before and I am tempted to do it but I don’t know what exactly it does. Has anyone else done it? Right now, my sim is currently dating Don Lothario and she is currently going for Thorne Bailey now (whose married). What does this action work against? Since I have an idea on what this does but I can’t be too sure!
