Give us chaos they said! Give us drama and randomness and things we can't control they said! Sorry I had to say it >:). There are people that like stuff like this and I don't want it taken away completely because I know I can control it through the way I play.
Personally I'm usually micromanager but I've been letting my save run as is... although that hasn't been voted in yet for my save so I haven't experienced any theft or disappearances yet. I think I've played my sims for about 5 weeks in my save. After reading all this I flipped it over to only let your played sims vote for a short while and in one sim week it would be very easy to appeal sharing is caring if you don't want to "cheat" it.
I do like the idea of making a super moocher/looter save as something to do in the future where my sim will be the one that wants to take as much as possible, but I'm not ready to flip to another save yet to experience that.
I think some things need to be tweaked about it like community lots need to be reset after the moochers leave as happens now in the case of of something breaking or burning. The dorm experience does sound bad if you have things like toilets or showers stolen since you might not be able to replace some items.
Are people coming in from other communities that have that voted in into a neighborhood that doesn't? Or is this happening in the neighborhoods where sharing is caring is in effect only? I think it should be limited to "sharing" within your neighborhood for sure. That would give us the challenge of battening down the hatches until repeal is possible at least.
All that said..It would be great if you could toss certain NAPS completely so that people that want some chaos factor in some saves can still have it... but this might be something that needs to to be modded out when people really don't want it, don't want to deal with it through options, gameplay and don't want to cheat it out ect. For example I like how they handled vampires with the disallowing door option. That was a relief to me and I've noticed more vampire break ins if you don't have it on. Hopefully things can be tweaked in NAPS to suit more people and cater to more play styles.
