Sharks?

There isn’t a kraken in the game. Sim Guru Lyndsay and the new community manager who’s name eludes me confirmed it at EA play. The mysterious dark shadow is just that - a mysterious shadow.

Sharks are really disappointing. I’ve had sims swim/dive/snorkel all over and the best I get is the fin moodlet.

@MidnightAura See my post above. I bet it has to do with your graphics settings. You can only see sharks on "high" object detail. EA knows about this now and it went on their bug list, so I expect they'll fix it with the next patch.

I doubt it? Both our PCs play on ultra. I see a Fin that is all.

Oh okay, but you do see the fin. That means it works fine. When you are in more shallow water you can see the whole shark, and out in deep water just the fin.

But technically there is no kraken. It doesn’t physically appear and I guess that’s why Sim Guru Lyndsay said it’s not in the game because they didn’t actually make one, just hinted at it.

The rabbit hole text boxes don’t mean anything except a moodlet for the sim. That to me isn’t game play. It’s like when my sims get an angry moodlet whilst beach combing - apparently a sea gull swooped down and stole their item or pooped on them but I’ve been watching the sims the whole time and no sea gull appears. Unless my game glitches every single time.

I know sharks can be seen, I’m disappointed at how safe they are though. That’s what I mean. I’ve saw the fin moodlet lots of times (and saw the fin) but nothing ever happens.

One of my Sims encountered two sharks, one in deep water and one in swallow. But only when they were interacting with a dolphin and they just passed by close to my Sim without doing anything. And I believe the "black mass" thing is the Kraken. (Scared to let my Sims swim in deep water at night, hahaha.)

If you're usually hanging out in the water with your sim in the deeper part you may be lucky to see one. Earliest I've seen one is being in the water for about 2 sim hours longest about 4 to 5 sim hours.

There's also a dramatic chord of music when a shark does show up. It stills startles me. This is pretty much your only warning if you don't get your sim back to shore ASAP as it's a precursor to their demise. :#

Instantly, I have the music from the movie "JAWS" going through my head. It's also dramatic. Now, I'm going to have to play Sulani again and put my Sim at risk. See what you did? Anytime, previously, that I have had a Sim 'visit' that dreaded island, my game gets borked.

sharks like deeper water than what's around the snorkeling buoys, but it doesn't have to be much deeper than those. and ladykyn had a good explanation for it... keep the sim in the water, sharks aren't an instantaneous thing and can sometimes take quite a few hours before being seen. it was about 2 hours into her swim that my now-dead sim saw her first shark(s) and then a good 6-7 hours after that for the next one that was a precursor to the kraken that drowned her

WAIT! There's a kraken? (Edit to add) Oh, a notification and a black mass. Got it! Ok, I was missing the kraken from another game.
