Is there any point in growing plants inside? my sim was growing roses in a planter inside his home but only had 3 flowers bloom i put it outside as it was the flowers season and it shot up to 10 flowers, im guessing it will go back to 3 when its out of season inside again

Sheltered plants produce less harvestables than outdoor plants. Sheltering is useful if you want to have out-of-season plants produce harvestables all year.

I disagree that sheltered plants will give the same produce. At least in the past it was intended that most plants would either give less crops/flowers per harvest when sheltered (I think regardless of season), or it could grow produce only while in season but would then give a better amount. Most of my farming sims grow plants unsheltered, because it's kind of good knowing each specie will take a break. I want to do other stuff with my sims than just gardening. I have no idea which method will produce the most over a full year, but money wise that will of course also depend on quality. Some plants can occasionally get "set back" during freezing temperatures, I had a few Winter plants outdoors producing less on very cold days (can't remember which plant it was, probably a vegetable). All my experiences were from before the ECO pack, though, things might have changed.

One thing you should know if you have the lot trait 'Great Soil' and plan to transfer plants in season outside from planter boxes in a greenhouse. That lot trait, in my experience, only works on plants in planter boxes. You'll see the soil in those sparkling when it's doing it's thing. I've taken plants from planter boxes in a greenhouse and planted them in the ground outside when in season, and they didn't grow as well as in the planter boxes. However, if you put them outside in the planter boxes, they'll get the lot trait benefits and grow more produce while in season.Others may have had a different experience, but that's what I've discovered across multiple saves with my Sims' gardens. I have two indoor gardens and the main benefit is that you don't care about which season it is and it can be VERY important. The only (If memory serves) plant that grows anytime is Plasma Tree, so yes - there is a very solid incentive to grow plans indoors. Would recommend to anyone.

Lemon trees and sage are another two that grow any season

my roses are in season but i only get about 4 now ive never had 10 since that one time
