Should I buy IL if I hate supernatural stuff?

I absolutely hate supernatural stuff in the sims, which is why I never bought the vampire pack. I do like some of the objects that come with Island Living, though. So, my question is: would I be able to avoid the stupid mermaids if I bought this, or would they invade my game and make me regret it? Also, are there other things that would interfere with realism that I need to be aware of?

Thx

  • Even if you don't play supernaturals there is so much awesome things to do in this pack. Yes you should buy it.

I don't think I've seen a single mermaid, unless they were 'disguised' (in which case, it doesn't matter - they were normal Sims in my game). My Sim did have a rabbit hole mermaid experience in the cave - she came out with a 'sad' moodlet from the siren's song and a whole bunch of mermadic kelp. (It's impossible to get rid of the stuff - you can't throw it away, sell it from your inventory, or even put it in the treasure chest. Maybe you can put it in the fridge, but I didn't want my Sims accidently eating it. I finally had to drag each of the ten bits of kelp from the inventory to the floor, go into build mode, and delete each bit.)

There are some that spawn around the cave under the volcano.
  • Mermaids are just like the rest of the game, like aliens they will be in their disgueses until one of the households notice them and than if more than one house notices them they will may choose to walk around without a disgues.

Edit: There where Aliens in the base game, but I never noticed them until I started playing the science career. Once all your sims that moves on leaves the worlds they will return to their disguesses.
  • Ive had the pack since it was released and still havent even seen a mermaid. I can certainly push the issue or create a mermaid, but just an FYI.
  • I don't own IL (yet), but just wanted to say that although I dislike supernaturals in my game, I did enjoy the TS3 mermaids A LOT.

Look at other Simmer's reviews on Island Living. Some people are disappointed with it while others love it.

It's a love it or hate it pack, for sure, just like Strangerville.
  • I haven't purchased Island Living yet, but will do so soon. I'm not against supernatural things all the way. However I do not like the Vampire EP's on any sims series! Well I don't like vampies period. From previous experience with vampires in the Sims 2 Nightlife and Sims 3 Late Night I hated them. They were like an invasive species that was definitely not wanted. They were turning my sims and npc into vampires and I couldn't get a hand on it so I had to uninstall them. I knew I wasn't going to play with a vampire. I wanted all the other content. But boy I should have left it on the shelf where I got it from. So when the vampire ep came out I already new to avoid it no matter what additional content that was there that I wanted. So the moral of my reply is that I'm with you on the vampires but I think the Island Living EP is different than the supernatural things involving vampires!
