- Lovestruck is less unpredictable and more "random" and "realistic" in a sense. Random as in the game randomizes turn-on and turn offs, and it randomizes all 50 on every sim in the world so they are very random and doesn't make sense. That said, the turn-on and turn offs don't prevent you from romancing anyone. Realistic as in the pack makes romance more difficult to sustain with the new romance satisfaction mechanic, so it's more about having a healthy relationship, if I understand correctly you are also playing with an occult so it depends if you find these mechanics a fun addition to playing with an occult sim.
- There is a new romance skill and romance career. It's more realistic and I think it's very subjective if one likes it or not. Romance in lovestruck is focused a lot on talking and discussing things with your partner. The new dating app and the new customizable dates are the less interesting parts of the pack imo. This pack adds more challenge to romance, and keeping it sustainable it doesn't really add more goals to aspire to more than keeping things as you would like them to be.

- Romantic satisfaction decays over time and this appears to happen to households that you are not playing so you can play a household for a week and come back to another one and watch as their romantic satisfaction is rock bottom.
- There are new fears which can tank your romantic relationship.
- The devs added adult couples dating to all lots in the game, I really didn't like this as this removed unique NPCs who liked to visit gyms, libraries, bars etc. If there are no park benches they will just stand in the middle of the lot doing nothing.
- Turn-on, turn offs are randomized on all sims in your save and it's like I wrote all 50 of them, which are way too many and are way too random.
However, they have listed romantic satisfaction on the laundry list for the upcoming patch so it's possible that it might solve some issues relating to it and there are also mods that can remove some of these annoying features from modders like lumpinou and littlemssam.
So, if I understand you correctly, the new Romance Dynamics (Steamy, Strained, Unpredictable, Wholesome) don't really do much of anything. The only effect Lovestruck has on legacy game play is that it makes finding a spouse and maintaining a happy marriage more complicated, which can be seen as a positive or a negative depending on preference. It does have level up mechanics, but those aren't very well developed, so not really an ideal pack for that sort of thing.
I don't care about the new fears, since I keep wants/fears turned off, but losing the "regulars" from the community lots would rob those lots of part of their appeal.☹️

The Romance Dynamics do not affect the relationship, they describe it. It's just a label for the style of relationship your sims have and the relationship style is controlled by the player. It's Steamy if they woohoo a lot and Wholesome is they kiss but don't woohoo or woohoo just a little. There are different interactions available depending on the romance dynamic and you can work to improve it, for example, from Strained to Steamy, depending on the story you want to tell.
The romance dynamic describes their relationship and they have a chance to do certain interactions more often. I'm not sure what one could do with legacy gameplay when it comes to lovestruck.
Yeah, the difference with lovestruck installed and not installed is crazy when it comes to NPC spawning, I'm surprised that not more people seem to have noticed it.
The 50 turn-on and turn-offs seems kind of crazy too, I have an old save which I love very much which has around 1000 sims in it. That means that this pack will assign 50,000 turn-on and turn-offs to all sim in that save.
