Should I get Seasons yet?

I got Get Together in July, and I'm somewhat ready for a new pack. Seasons looks so cool but it did just come out and I have heard about several bugs. Should I wait longer until the bugs are resolved? Is it worth $40?

  • I have seen some of the bugs mentioned -- sims popping home from work or school if you load the lot on a holiday, lingering leaf piles, some umbrella up and down delays, and a small amount of teleporting (but I haven't had that stop them from washing the dishes, they just go to the wrong place and then suddenly pop up across the house where they were supposed to be).

And occasional umbrellas in the house -- don't think that's going to keep the sink from leaking on you there, Anais.

For me it has still been worth it. Weather is always something I've loved in the sims, and the holiday calendar is fun -- especially the ability to edit or create your own holidays.
  • Not gonna mention any names but... saying "THIS EXPANSION WILL LITERALLY BREAK YOUR GAME" is a really dramatic over exaggeration lol. I have a pretty low end computer by any standards and it handles seasons fine. There aren't many bugs that I've experienced, but the ones that are there are pretty minor and fixable, such as stinky leaf piles staying around for months and sims getting stuck under staircases.
I think seasons is one of the best EPs for ts4 yet, and it made the game so much more immersive and fun. I think you should definitely get it if it's within your budget!
  • I have something with umbrellas where if I send a sim to collect things in the rain they take forever because they open and close it numerous times between the collecting process. Since I play a lot of collectors/herbalism sims for now I've turned off rain in the game for awhile. I can turn it back on when I want too but since I was starting to miss clearer weather I'm enjoying that setting for now.

To the OP I'd say it depends on how you react to things whether you should get Seasons or not. Will sending sims out to burn bushes in your neighborhood that linger as stinky piles drive you up the wall? If they aren't near your home can you over look them like I can? Does a bug send you into a frenzy or do you normally adapt or work around it until it's fixed? Can you sometimes laugh at bugs? Thinking of the weird pet stretch bug right now... or the firebreathing bug that has happened awhile back.

I personally don't have game breaking bugs. I do have some annoyances that I don't focus on and sometimes develop work arounds so I can continue playing.

A lot of bugs come with patches as others have said. Like I don't know if people who don't have Seasons have the gardening problem that happens in the Scientist career (GTW). I kind of think they would because they overhauled gardening in general.
  • Just wanted to mention this there are two locations that I go to that have different bug fixes to correct the problems that drive me crazy.
http://www.modthesims.info/ Hint type in No Autonomous in the search bar there.

  • If you're waiting for bugs to be fixed you may very well be waiting a long time. To be honest, I wouldn't even look at them as bugs, just as negative "features," and then make a decision on how impactful those "features" are going to be on your gameplay.
  • I just discovered something that I wanted to share.

When the different holidays come up, whatever you do, play the day out until the holiday is over, before you move a sim or go into manage world for whatever. If you don't then all the stuff you sim has accomplished will be like they never did it. I'm pretty sure this is a bug.
  • I'm getting the leaf pile bug (only really bothers my Neat Sims -- there's one right in front of my Sim's house so she's uncomfortable every time she returns home) and the holiday travel bug which I work around by making sure my Sims either all go into work or I keep them at home to work on skills. The teleporting is annoying but I can deal with it.
  • Seasons is so wonderful, in my opinion. Easily the best one yet. The amount of detail that went into it is just awe inspiring. I'll often be playing and just stop to look at the effect the weather is having on the world. Trees blowing in the wind, rain hitting the water, etc. It completely changed the game for me. I honestly didn't even play TS4 before seasons. Now I'm constantly stuck to my game. XD the leaf piles getting left around and starting to stink is super annoying, but I just have my sims spend a day doing yard/area work and burning them all. Lol.

There's a small and unobtrusive mod that will allow you to click on any leaf pile with the option to delete. It's what I am using until the bug is resolved.
