I have been playing my Cantrell family since I began playing the Sims with Sims2 in 2005. Originally, I created them so my O/C (original character) in my Star Trek fanfiction would have a true and fuller backstory from which I could derive a fuller O/C. Erik, a musician at heart, could never fulfill his goals in Sims2. The game mechanics just weren't there for it. He never married and became the Mayor of the town he lived in. The point is, Brianna was the only daughter amid four sons. Adrian came way later than the others. Yes, she grew up in a totally masculine environment, but she was destine to join Starfleet. This gave her the Moxy on how to handle the male crewmembers. She's gorgeous, but highly psychically advanced. Taught in the Vulcan Way, to help her control her mind so that it doesn't just wander, uninvited, into another's thoughts, it's good that she knows how to physically defend herself. I see it as her older brothers' gift to her, to keep her protected. Oh and in the book version she's a tiny thing of almost five foot in height. What we call a dink in my neck of the woods and era.
For a long time I played Brianna and her husband and family. Brianna's children were already dictated in my story, so I kept with them. Then I got the desire to play Erik, the second eldest in the family and her favorite brother. He lived with his sister and family for quite some time, while his singing career got off of the ground. This allowed me to play both siblings. When he finally found the Sim he could settle down with and have his own family I just let the game decide, since he wasn't married in the timeframe of the fanfiction. I gave myself free-rein.
This latest iteration of him (yeah, I've had to restart many a time due to human error, mine, or a save corrupting incident). At any rate, The first child was the expected son. I used a mod to ensure the identical twin daughters who followed Jamison (in a save that got corrupted, that I'm attempting to recreate with perks) gave me unexpectedly. This time the game made it identical triplets. A boy, followed by another girl! This distressed me endlessly. To the point I put up a poll asking if I should Edit the kids? It was never about their looks, but about the birth order and gender of the kids. Instead of boy, girl/girl/, boy, boy and lastly, girl. I got boy, girl/girl/ girl/, boy, girl and a seventh on the way. :open_mouth: After the opinions given on the poll, I made up my mind. I decided to edit the kids. I returned the lot number to default, 8 Sims. The wife was still pregnant, which surprised me. I went into cas.fulleditmode, with the intention of removing that fourth daughter to exchange her for a biological son (so I didn't have to jump through all kinds of hoops to make certain the game recognized the boy) but I wasn't allowed to edit any further. The wife was, indeed, pregnant. But that was okay, because it was the third son I needed. I kept the triplets and am now content to just go forward from there.
