Should the Cantrells and the Golden Kids Go Off to Uni Immediately?

The youngest of the seven just aged up today in my game. Now, I'm pondering if they should head out to Britechester on the coming weekend to get that head start or wait until Erik goes to the Starlight Accolades come Sunday evening. He's received another nomination, but I'm certain with the work ethic these kids have via their Watcher, that he won't be able to spend Sunday evening whiling away the time when he should be getting that head-start on his classwork.

So, what should they do?

  • Also if you don't mind manipulating things a bit, save your game before sending him to the ceremony. If Erik wins the award, then it was time well spent, in this case continue playing.

But if he doesn't win the award, rewind time to the moment before he went, only this time you don't send him there.

In other words, exit without saving. I hear you on that one. Thanks for weighing in.
  • Not sure I understood well the situation in your game but if it was Friday, then I would head start first, then finish all the homework first, then switch back to your Erik goes to ceremony on Sunday. After that, swich back to the university sims again, it still will be the Sunday night. Your uni sims will have time for the first day of university class.
  • UPDATE: I ended up sending them off that same Wednesday evening when the youngest Teen aged up to YA. Erik worked his behind off, got his homework done for all four classes. And, if memory serves, managed to get started on both his Term Paper and the Term Presentation Board by Saturday. Nothing like cheating up their needs to squeeze every ounce of time they have.

He went off to the Starlight Accolades unburdened. Turns out, he won. So, he now has five Starlight Accolades. He picked up a sixth one without a nomination the following Starlight Accolades. so that was pretty thrilling.
  • I voted other because I couldn't decide between "Wait until after the Awards Show on Sunday and then leave?" and "Have Erik work his backside off at Uni and then head off to the Award Show on Sunday?"

A third option would have Eric wait a week before heading off to Uni. This way he doesn't have to work his tail off either way. By waiting a week he could enroll the following Weekend, and then have a head start at that time. When I have any sim in Uni, I always turn off aging for everyone, at least for the week(s) they are in school.
  • Thank you for weighing in. The kids are into their second term of three. I just goofed major league, though. The accolades stopped working, yet again. My doing a game folder refresh didn't fix it either as it's done in the past. I rolled back a couple of saves, right to the end of the first term, which gave them one day left. (Turns out a Sim cannot remain in Uni if preggars, not even if it's paused. :open_mouth: So, I had to finagle things to get over the situation. Still the accolades are broken or borked. I ended up uploading my families and their lots (not Wyvern Hall, just to be clear.) And I believe I may have sorted out what to do about the mess I made!

Maybe do you have your own way to manage the randomly generated celebrities in Starlight Acolade? Because it looks like they are taking most of trophies which my sims should get. Yes that's the good way to handle the university work and visit Del Sol Valley both. :)

No, I don't manage the NPCs at all. And yes, they do take up most of the awards. However, Erik is a musician, so he stands alone. A nomination doesn't necessitate a win, either. I'm just glad the secret to having him win something for his music was finally revealed to me by another player. There is a mod that removes the cool-down between licensing a piece of music. Plus, lyrics don't count. The song must be written on the violin, because piano and guitar you write lyrics, only. But, I have him write songs like crazy and then spam the licensing. I write down the order of the songs, because the notice will state that the last song licensed has received notice, blah, blah, blah and to have your Sim attend the next Accolades to see if they won. this way I get a sense of which song was deemed Best Song, which is that particular award. He won five, for songs. Then when he attended without a Nomination, I decided it was for Best New Artist. He didn't win right off the bat for the fifth nomination. Later on, he won. Then he went without a Nomination and won again. :open_mouth: After years of pining for him to be recognized, I'm in seventh heaven about now. If only the Awards Show wouldn't bork so much. I finally did a game repair and the awards went off as scheduled. Started a tad late, but a Host did show up, finally. Erik's mother a Proper Celebrity in the Art World, finally won something. I decided to go ahead and save so she could keep her award. ;) The accolade went unnamed by category, but that's okay. Her son sat next to her. He didn't win this time, but it would have been his seventh. We'll see if he wins next time. I'm going to keep track of how many award shows work until they cease to work, in case this helps EA sort things out.

I wish there will be a mod for stopping the random celebrities take the awards for acting career. LOL It happened in my game a couple of years ago, I had 5 global superstar sims in my household. Mostly my sims got awarded for bestselling books, best acting, written songs from piano(base game feature), and random reasons that everyone loves me or good person something like.. because I take all 5 sims into the award ceremony..and that's why other house members got the award without nominated. And that was all about 12 trophies? After that I got tired of attending the ceremony and stopped getting into it. :D
