At this point, for the most part, the "Original By" is sticking on lots, @MadameLee. In some cases, older builds that may have already been altered in someone's library can still be re-uploaded without their original by. I can't say with 100% certainty that all loopholes were eliminated, but all that I was aware of have been, and just looking through lots in the gallery, you can see that cases where it is missing are much more rare. However, from my understanding, the #stopstealing campaign goes beyond wanting to retain original credit; it's focused on getting people to cease re-uploading others work. There are a variety of perspectives on the issue, and it's been debated in this thread and others. I don't think we're ever going to all agree. ;)
However, I will respond to @lovlyb with regard to her statement that "you don't own it, Maxis does." While technically true and meaning that Maxis has the right to do with your creations as they will, that doesn't mean that Maxis themselves endorses people re-uploading others work and claiming it as their own. Maxis stated in their own June 11 patch notes that "We fixed a plagiarism issue that was allowing the “Original by” creator information associated with a lot or room to become lost after using the placement option via Manage Worlds and then re-uploading the lot to the Gallery." This indicates that Maxis themselves considers such actions to be plagiarism.
