Silly Mistakes We Make . . .

A fellow Simmer let me know there was a mod to help out with the Emotional Void ailment that all but struck down my Rock Star. She noticed I had threatened to let that save sit until I could resolve this issue. I grabbed the mod all excited about it, but then, silly me, I installed it incorrectly. Full disclosure: I'M NOT NEW TO MODS. I thought the reason the mailbox cheat didn't work, and so therefore neither did the mod. However, before I did anything rash, such as uninstall it, I checked the site to find the instructions on how to enable said cheat. I forgot the vital testintcheats true before I shift-clicked the mailbox. That still didn't work, but then I took a look at the mod and realize I had unwittingly installed it two folders deep. It was clear to only place it one folder deep.  I fixed that, needless to say, but since my Sim only had about 14 hours left to his ailment and another player had suggested purchasing a pill from the Apothecary table, I thought I'd do that. I sent him to Innis**** (can't recall the full name of the new world) after looking up where it was.

Found one in the Gnom (shouldn't that be Gnome?) museum, but it didn't work so I sent him to the realm of the Faeries and got lucky enough to find a liaison to the Council. She was very kind, and my Sim was instantly attracted to her. I had to have him cool his jets, he's a very married man, after all.  He was able to ask for a cure and voila, she cured him. YAY!

I have other such tales, but none are coming to mind at the moment.

Please share your silly moments so we can all have a good laugh at ourselves. Trust me, this is cathardic.

I've heard of steam, but since I wasn't a true 'gamer', only starting this addiction to the Sims through Sim2, I ended up installing the App, once EA switched us over. Best of luck in getting that all sorted out.

I haven't tried that because when I did that awhile ago. It made steam not able to open the app. I have to open the EA app for steam now, before steam could open it on it's own.

I very good at breaking files in my computer and very bad at fixing it. I have the app set up through steam, so when I'm playing I have steam opened and it shows to my friends I'm playing the game. Because I play 2 different games, for instance I play the sims, then I play stardew valley in the same day. So I like having one app opened to play both games. So steam has control over the EA app.

Have you tried to uninstall the App, to install it anew? You might want to try that.

  • I have you beat. Recently every time when I try to open the EA app. It won't open and I get a message that the app is turned off in windows app manager. I have to type run in the search bar, hit enter, then type services.msc to open it.

I did something in the settings to make this happen but I don't know what I did, or how to fix it.  Or when the game crashed after I disabled the b&h pack. Actually now that I think about it after the crash is when it started happening. I have since turned the pack back on but it didn't fix the app not opening.

  • Oh, I just thought of another one.  I saw that I had two Screenshot folders in my game and one of them wasn't renamed Screenshots.misc or something of that nature. However, it was still receiving pictures. I learned years ago, the hard way that the Screenshot folders don't regenerate after you delete them, I still mourn the loss of what I knew were great shots. Did I take a moment to fix the mistake. No. Silly me.

So, yesterday I was playing my game and after my Rock Star was cured, he held a concert (he'd been hiding away from everyone due to the ugly scabs over the gory, angry looking sores on his face, chest and arms. To the point when I sent him to the new world, he wore a bear suit. People somehow knew it was him, though. So much for that disguise. Oh, well.

Before I shut down for the day, I took a moment to have a quick look at said pictures. That's when I saw the two-folder issue yet again. I couldn't at first see the picture I had cropped. Nor some of the other pictures, such as when he met the Faerie and they took a selfie together. It was sweet. Before I went to bed, I did myself a favor. I went back upstairs and went through the folder, clicking on the pictures to see them enlarge and while the photo I sought wasn't there, per se, the entire photo was, and I was able to crop out the others in the same photo. Phew!

P.S. I knew  I had cropped this picture. Will wonders never cease, I found the original one I was looking for. Not in a Screenshot folder, sadly, but in a folder, I set up for the update I will write sooner, rather than later. It's a jpeg and I wrote on it, since it's to be the Album cover. I have no idea where the original one is, but at least I've got the one I need to use. My Sims' attitude, in the way he has his head tilted is slightly different from the whole picture. With the Road to Fame mod, I can have the Professional Photographers come where my Sim is for the magazine photo shoot. That's what the original was is. I'm so overjoyed I can't tell you.
