It's definitely supposed to happen. If you dispel any curse, you'll be rewarded with a blessing instead. What blessing you get depends on which curse your Sim had in the first place, but the skeleton blessing is pretty powerful while it lasts. There's no need decay at all - perfect for exploring the temple without having to worry about needing to pee, getting hungry or sleepy.
