I think they will rarely now return to Twitter if they return at all, and honestly I don’t blame them. This community asked for more engagement and transparency and the gurus obliged and for their troubles they were verbally abused, harassed, and insulted. No explanation they gave would suffice, no improvement they made was adequate. They were summarily stripped of their humanity and their dignity and for what? A game, an idle distraction, a past time pursuit. It’s been disgusting and disheartening to watch. The good side of this community is very good, the dark side however is horrifying and heartbreaking.
Yeah I'm sad that simguruninja seemed to not be active anymore and I don't blame him since I think he was getting death threats. But he was the most active and helpful guru, even more active than the community manager. But it could be because a previous cm was stalked and threatened.
Honestly it's sad ? he removed his photo and went dark. He was always so sweet and kind to everyone. He's the most fun when new packs come out he always has something in his house related to the pack ?. I know some time ago he used to be even more active then he was, retweeting a lot of simmer content and engaging but he got bullied into staying quiet and started only being active around the time of new content. I feel like this was the last straw and I feel really sad for them. Many of them have kids, imagine their kids when they are old enough to get online, some probably already are,and see all of these death threats and negativity surrounding their parents for a job they do. Then that effects the children and they could get hurt by it.
And to make it worse I've seen several simmers say "bullying works let's keep pushing them." And a bunch of people supporting this ideology.
I cannot condone bullying in any shape or form and as much as people try to make EA out to be some evil overlord corporation the gurus have become victims.
I just want the gurus to do whatever is mentally best for them even if that means we won't get to interact with them. Self care comes first ❤
And the last thing I would want them to sacrifice for is a video game. I can't enjoy something off of someone else's suffering. A lot of the joy I get from sims is the joy a lot them put into making it, and the excitement they feel finally revealing something fun they have been working hard on for a long time.
To share in that excitement and happiness together is what makes "the sims community."
And I understand that not everything is going to be happy happy joy joy ALL the time. But I feel like this is just getting ridiculous and beyond sad.
This is exactly why I come down hard on anyone posting like this here on the forums. I work with these people, they are colleagues and friends first and the level of vitriol and toxicity being aimed at them is uncalled for. Attacks, threats and brigading here will land you an immediate and permanent suspension from these boards.
Both this thread and the Negative thread have been shared with the Sims team. I know you want more, but I have no further information to share right now. - Anonymous4 years ago

People just don't understand that personal attacks, threats and insults don't solve anything at all. I'm not happy, many aren't, and I won't lie about it. But the individual does not equal the company. People are imho right in voicing their discontent to EA, and on top of that they absolutely should vote with their wallets, but no amount of unhappiness will ever legitimize treating another human being like trash. - EA_Cade4 years ago

Exactly they're just doing their Jobs, there's no reason to attack them, besides I don't think that voting with my wallet is working, I haven't gotten much supernatural packs lately, yes I know I have to be patient but it gets tiring sometimes, just give me some news already.

Everyone, I encourage you to use your wallets exactly as you please, while mine remains shut for the time being xD - alanmichael14 years agoSeasoned AceSpeaking about the aggressivity on Twitter, I wonder why Maxis and the Gurus are still preferring that platform so much instead of talking with us here, in the safe space of their own moderated forum. Yeah, I've always wondered why the SimGurus dedicate all of their communication on Twitter instead of this forum. - I love simguruninja. He is my 2nd favourite after our forumguru @EA_Cade  He seemed the most engaged and genuinely caring towards the fans. He even responded to my tweets a few times a couple of years ago when I posted on twitter to the Sims team. The gurus on twitter are very nice and like to retweet or respond to fans. Now is a very hostile time in the player community. I think it's best they stay away from social media. Nothing worse than encountering angry customers during work, it can throw off your mood for the whole day. I do miss simguruninja's posts though, but I agree that their mental health should come first. Personally, I don't actually think they should address the wedding bugs in posts on twitter. Won't that be like throwing oil on fire? I really don't think they will start posting their opinions of why this pack has a lot of bugs, it will just create more drama. I do hope they continue to engage with the players and post news and updates in future when everything calms down again.
I personally don't really need an apology from the gurus. I guess a general letter from the Sims team would be okay, acknowledging the pack has problems and they are trying to fix it, but why wouldn't they be trying to fix it? That's their job and product. And they don't do apologies for any other packs with bugs. We can't expect public apologies from gurus every time we click on Sims and they don't do what we want them to do. Sad to say it, but then they will have to apologize every time they release something, since this game is prone to getting bugs. I just want them to continue to fix bugs across all the packs, not just this one. Actually, I want the restaurant and mannequin bugs fixed more than the wedding cake one, I already made an unperishable cake with the Fresh Chef trait, and the slow dance works if you turn autonomy off, other bugs can't be worked around with gameplay so I hope they prioritize those like the officiant, flower pal, wedding arch and then other bugs from other packs. I hope this silence is just their hard work and taking care of their mental health and we will get an awesome patch this month for lots of bugs across the series. - Horrorgirl64 years agoSeasoned Ace
